Chlemoutsi or Chlumoutsi or Clermont or Castel Tornese was the most important castle of the Principality of Achaea. It was built at the beginning of the Frankish rule.
It was the most representative Frankish castle in Greece.
Chlemoutsi is situated on a hill about 220 meters high, at a short distance from the sea (about 2-2.5 km), in the western Cape of the Peloponnese overlooking the Ionian Sea, opposite Zakynthos.
